Tiger Orchid
One Off
The Tiger Orchid draws you in towards its centre and invites you to look a little closer. It is the first piece designed for the Contemporary Arrangements Collection.
The design has a simple and elegant aesthetic that masks an extremely technical and challenging construction. This called for absolute precision and was a true test of craftsmanship.
The table has eight main components; each consisting of a stable core material covered with thinly sliced and laminated solid timber. Because of the arrangement of the components the designs success relied upon complete dimensional stability of the legs and top segments.
The top segments are feather jointed into the legs; the legs mitre at a single point and let you peer right through the top to the floor. As a functional point, the table has a piece of 4mm toughened glass that can be placed over the top and has been cut to its exact shape.
The tiger, in the name, comes from the Jarrah’s dark tiger like stripes. This type of feature in Jarrah is extremely rare and adds to the Tiger Orchid’s exclusivity. It is a true ‘One Off’ piece of art.
